Baking Contest with California Raisins at Expo Sirha
On April 11th, 12th and 13th, the Raisin Administrative Committee participated as official sponsor of the Second Foodservice Cup of Bakery within the trade show Sirha. The objective of the contest was to increase product development and to show bakers how California raisins can be used in a wide variety of baked goods. This event gathered 9 pairs of contestants from the Mexican Republic and Guatemala. During the contest, the 9 contestants developed 5 categories of bread, all including natural and golden California raisins; leading to a total product development of 45 products. The winners of the contest, from the company Corazón Latino, won a trip to Napa California to see how raisins are harvested and to have a seminar at the Culinary Institute of America. This trip will be conducted during September 2018.
